In an exclusive interview, Equipe Media spoke with Sahrawi human rights advocate Dahha Rahmouni about a recent meeting between representatives of Sahrawi civil society in the occupied territories and Mr. Staffan de Mistura, the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General.

The meeting, which took place from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, highlighted Mr. de Mistura’s commitment to engaging with Sahrawi civil society in the occupied regions of Western Sahara.

The discussion focused on the multifaceted Sahrawi cause, including political, civil, and human rights issues. The meeting shed light on the often-overlooked humanitarian aspect of the conflict, which is often marginalized by the international community.

Rahmouni told Equipe Media that the meeting with Mr. de Mistura was an important opportunity to highlight the humanitarian concerns of the Sahrawi people and that ehe dividing wall is a major obstacle to the resolution of the conflict and must be dismantled.

He added that the international community must ensure freedom of movement and the right to peaceful assembly for all Sahrawis.”
