In Statement 901 issued on Sunday, the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) claimed attacks against Moroccan occupation forces and their positions in the Forsia, Essmara, and Mahbes regions, resulting in significant casualties. The statement did not provide further details.
Meanwhile, a Moroccan media source claimed that the explosions witnessed in the occupied city of Essmara on Saturday night were the result of Moroccan air defense systems intercepting Sahrawi missiles targeting Moroccan military bases in Essmara.
The source based their interpretation of the explosions on the absence of any announcement by the SPLA regarding targeting the city in their daily statement. The source also speculated that United Nations military observers would likely conclude that the scattered debris is the result of a missile interception operation.
