Bahi Brakia, a Saharawi citizen from El-Aaiun in occupied Western Sahara, recently shared a disturbing incident with Equipe Media, highlighting the ongoing oppression faced by Sahrawis in this occupied territory.

Brakia says that Moroccan occupation forces, led by high-ranking officials, violently raided his family’s home. The alleged reason for this action: Brakia had set up a tent to celebrate his child’s birth, which authorities deemed as “obstructing traffic.”

Adding to the injustice is the apparent discriminatory treatment. While Brakia faced repercussions for his tent, nearby settler tents remained untouched, suggesting bias against the Sahrawi community.

This belief is further strengthened by Brakia’s recent actions. He shared videos documenting attacks by Moroccan forces, including the burning and destruction of Sahrawi dwellings, specifically along the coast between El-Aaiun and Boujdour,. These visuals serve as stark evidence of the ongoing hardships faced by Sahrawis.

Despite facing violence and adversity, Brakia remains resolute. He emphasizes that such acts will not deter him or his community from their pursuit of freedom and justice. Their resilience reflects their unwavering belief in the justness of their cause.
