Saharawi human rights activist Khadija Badati has made history by becoming the first member of her community to join the Jusos Executive Board, representing the state of Saxony. This significant appointment recognizes her unwavering commitment to justice and her tireless advocacy for the Saharawi people.
Originally from Western Sahara, Khadija has been a vocal critic of Morocco’s illegal occupation of her homeland. Her work has focused on exposing the human rights abuses, environmental exploitation, and international law violations perpetrated by Moroccan authorities.
In addition to her domestic advocacy, Khadija has been instrumental in raising awareness of Western Sahara’s plight on the international stage. She has particularly targeted German companies involved in the illegal exploitation of the region’s resources, including Siemens, Heidelberg Cement, and Intercontinental.
