Following the European Court of Justice’s landmark ruling on the annulment of agreements between the European Union and Morocco, Mahfouda Lefquir, a former Saharawi political detainee and human rights defender, expressed her strong support for the decision. Lefquir, who also chairs the Saharawi Committee for Civil Servants and Employees Illegally Fired from their Jobs, described the ruling as a “historic” moment for the Sahrawi people.
In an interview with Equipe Media, Lefquir emphasized the importance of the ruling for two key reasons: first, it definitively denies any link between the Sahrawi people and Morocco, and second, it calls on foreign companies to halt their exploitation of Western Sahara’s resources. She thanked the European Court of Justice and extended her gratitude to all the free people around the world for their continued support of the Sahrawi cause.
