At this moment, journalists Mohamed Haiba Mayara and Ahmed Ibrahim Ettanji are under siege and threatened with arrest at the home of Ahmed Ettanji’s sister in occupied Boujdour. Upon entering the city, they were shocked to find themselves surrounded by Moroccan police forces from various state security agencies. These forces immediately ordered them to leave the city by force, subjecting them to a barrage of insults and threats of arrest, in a blatant violation of their right to free movement.

The host family has also been subjected to intimidation and threats for accommodating the two journalists. The occupation authorities continue to besiege Mayara and Ettanji, insisting that they leave the city by force.

Equipe Media, while closely monitoring the situation of its coordinator Mohamed Haiba Mayara and its president Ahmed Ibrahim Ettanji, condemns the ongoing repressive policies of the Moroccan occupation authorities against Sahrawi citizens, particularly human rights defenders. Equipe Media calls on international organizations to urgently intervene to stop the continuous wave of grave human rights violations, which calls into question the international community’s failure to protect human rights defenders and the unarmed Sahrawi population living under a military, police, and media siege.
