Saharawi associations, in full activity

Saturday September 20th, Saharawi Human rights activists came together to formally found Saharawi Organ against the Moroccan Occupation (ISACOM). The aim of this association is to  defend the right of Saharawi people for freedom, independence and human dignity through legitimate and peaceful means against Moroccan belligerent occupation of their country.

The 33 The founders are human rights defenders, trade unionists. survivors of the secret prisons, former political prisoners and again some internationally well-known activists among them the Assembly elected an executive board composed of Aminatou Haidar as president and El Ghalia Djimi, Mina Baal, Lehsan Dalil, Ahmed Naciri, Abderahmane Zayou, et Mohamed El Moutawakil.

Right off the bat, Morocco has deployed its forces to intimidate and threaten the citizen activists of that organ. A judicial inquiry has been opened for « threat to the territorial integrity ». Territorial integrity within the meaning of the Moroccan regime means the existence of an entity between the two countries Morocco and Western Sahara. Nevertheless the Moroccan regime is the only one in the world to support its own military act of occupation of part of Western Sahara. As a reminder,

The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) has reaffirmed on several occasions last year that the two countries are separate and distinct consistent with international law.

At the same time, the Collective of Saharawi Human Rights Defenders, CODESA held a meeting after Aminatou Haidar left its presidency. reorganises the way it is run ,publish various communiqués and produces competently and timely reports on the human rights situation.

Equipe Media has recently interviewed the organizations on the specific point of natural resources of the country.

Mrs Oum El Moumnin Yaya Executive Board member of the CODESA denounces the excessive and unreasoned exploitation of fisheries resources, fishing , seabed and mineral resources- phosphate-  of the territory by Morocco . According to her this plundering imperilling the future of the country and its people « the Saharawis » not only by depleting these resources but also by devastation of the nature and environment.

According to her : « This is all the more regrettable that companies concerned are aggressively engaged in the unrestrained exploitation of natural resources of our people without consulting us nor have received our consent » .

Obviously, We are opposed to over-fishing. of fish stocks of our seas by the hundreds of  Moroccan, European, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian ships. Which leading to their depletion.

Regarding the renewable energy sources whether it’s wind or solar, Mrs Oum El Moumnin Yaya pointed out that their “ecological interest is confronted with the paradox of their support for the Moroccan occupation and the injustice committed towards the Saharawi people. An ecological production cannot be complicit with a military and violent occupation.

The actions of companies like the german Siemens, the Italian Enel and other European companies are illegal, and violate our fundamental rights of our future and our land.

The resurgence of pressure from the Moroccan authorities against human rights activists and journalists if it succeeds in wasting everyone’s time, does not seem to have an effect on the energy deployed by the Sahrawi citizens to inform and defend the human rights.
